FixStream Offers Workload Visualization for the Hybrid IT Organization

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

As IT organizations move away from systems-centric and data center-centric management paradigms and refocus instead on the management of workloads, they need a new way to monitor their new Hybrid IT stack. At first glance, FixStream’s Meridian IT monitoring platform may seem like just a prettier way to see an IT environment, but its good looks belie the fact that it may be ushering in a new way to manage IT operations.

The modern IT technology stack no longer fits into a neat box. Today’s IT infrastructures often span multiple owned data centers, private cloud environments, and various public cloud instances. Moreover, the increased level of integration necessary between systems, along with the continuously increasing pervasiveness of technology into every business process means that business-critical workloads often span multiple environments.

Most IT organizations have struggled to adapt their management approaches and tools to this highly dynamic and complex environment. FixStream intends to help them deal with this challenge, offering what they call a correlation, visualization and analytics platform.

The product’s visualizations are unquestionably rich and engaging. But what sets it apart is its ability to organize and filter those visualizations by business process, while spanning multiple environments. While IT operations teams can filter by platform, application, vendor, environment and almost any other conceivable technical perspective, it is the ability to view constructed workloads from a business-process and business-value perspective that is noteworthy.
