Redwood Update: From RPA to Intelligent Automation

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

When we last spoke to Redwood Software the company’s message was that there was a lot of promise to Robotic Process Automation (RPA), but that the technology’s focus on simulating user interactions with software led to limited productivity improvements. Instead, the company claimed at the time, it could generate 80-100% productivity improvements by taking a more holistic approach focused on APIs, algorithms and interacting directly within the backend of systems.

The company has remained focused on this approach and has found success in working with organizations that have bumped into some of the limitations of traditional RPA approaches. Today, however, the company sees its use cases expanding as organizations seek to tackle more complex business processes, particularly those that function deep within large ERP systems and which require increasingly require complex cross-system integrations.

Its intelligent agents can leverage low-level integrations and help organizations automate complicated processes in a way that is challenging using other methods. As the company sees it, this intelligent automation is the gateway that will enable organizations to simultaneously drive increased productivity, improve the employee experience, and bridge the gap as organizations look to modernize and automate across the spectrum of their operational capability.
