TORO Cloud Update: Bringing the Worlds of Integration and AppDev Together

An Intellyx BrainCandy Update

It’s been over three years since we last spoke to TORO Cloud (then known as Toro), and as you might suspect, a lot has changed. The company remains integration-focused and API-centric, but has also recognized that the worlds of integration and application development are merging. After all, in today’s fast-moving environment, an application that cannot interconnect with everything else is of little use.

The company’s flagship product, Martini, enables developers to eliminate grunt work and collaborate to rapidly develop modular applications, integrate them together and to existing applications, and automate business processes and workflows. Its primary differentiation is its API-centricity. From the company’s perspective, most enterprise business processes start with the need to connect systems and data — both internally and externally. Despite this, integration and connection is often an afterthought in most development efforts.

The company hopes to flip this approach with a development platform that has APIs and integration as its central development paradigm. Moreover, the company leverages a low-code type development environment — what it calls Gloop — to make the process fast, intuitive, and simplified. It’s an intriguing approach that brings together API development and management, traditional integration activities, and modern low-code application development in an integrated and integration-centric development platform.
