Next Pathway: Paving the Way for Cloud Migrations At-Scale

An Intellyx BrainCandy

Despite the unrelenting drumbeat of cloud-everything over the last decade, industry studies claim that enterprises have migrated as little as 15-20% of their workloads to the cloud. In most cases, the reason isn’t a lack of interest or that the value proposition doesn’t hold water. Instead, it is the cost, time, and risk of these migrations that have held organizations back.

Next Pathway believes that it can help mitigate these concerns. The company is focused on enabling what it calls end-to-end cloud migration, primarily focused on business intelligence (BI) and other reporting-related workloads. It claims to deliver this end-to-end approach by automating the three major steps involved in cloud migration: planning, translation, and cut-over. The company’s two platforms, Crawler 360 and its Shift Migration Suite, handle these major steps by migrating ETL feeds, delivering what it calls UAT-ready SQL translation/code conversion, and then capturing downstream lineage of data consumption to enable a smooth migration by pointing consuming tools to the cloud.

The company finds that by simplifying the cloud migration process, its clients can also transform and optimize their workloads to meet changing business requirements while they migrate them. The company also stresses that its tools are design-time only, meaning that once the migration is complete, there is no on-going need for its tools in production. It believes that the combination of this design-time architecture and its independence and agnostic nature gives its clients the flexibility and confidence to migrate critical workloads to the cloud without fear.
