Mphasis is a global consulting firm that offers application design and business process outsourcing services with a twist: its own technical transformation is led by an engaged council of architects that are embedded within the work of their enterprise customers.
Disruptions from the advent of eCommerce to the ubiquitous smartphone and cloud computing drive digital transformation — and if the past year of COVID has taught us anything, it’s that companies who haven’t trained their digital capabilities to rapidly meet changing customer needs will rapidly fail.
Mphasis’ approach to solving this problem for clients is to divide its workforce into eight ‘tribes’ for digital competencies such as Modernization, NextOps or XaaP (anything-as-a-platform). Each tribe designs its own best practices and tool chains. When a customer starts, they pull in vertical industry subject experts, combining them with the needed competency to form virtual solution design and delivery squads.
“COVID drives a recalculation of the digital approach for enterprises … The mentality switched right at the top as companies worked from home and customers changed buying patterns,” said Nitin Rakesh, CEO of Mphasis, who also happens to have just co-wrote a new book on the topic, Transformation in Times of Crisis.
“Leaders understand ‘it has to be now’ and this sense of urgency makes people open to new ideas,” Rakesh said.
