Launchable: Picking flaky tests out of the data haystack

An Intellyx Brain Candy BriefLaunchable

Launchable offers a control plane that eases test automation constraints within continuous delivery pipelines by differentiating between essential coverage goals and ‘flaky’ tests that are non-essential or generating bad results.

Using a CLI and a few lines of code inserted in Jenkins or GitHub Actions, their machine learning ‘brain’ monitors test suite invocations at every pull request, looking to squeeze out false failures, false positives and excessive test execution processes, for tighter test selection criteria in successive release cycles.

This approach is especially relevant for agile DevOps teams attempting to scale up Cloud-Native style environments, where there are a plethora of open source and commercial tools in operation, and rate of release can drive up the rate of test data generation in a cubically expanding progression.

In addition, their test selection and insights maintain footing within cloud application environments and in embedded testing use cases, which may increase the relevance of this filtering approach as more IoT and edge computing scenarios come online.
