Sofy: No-code mobile testing with AI lab assistants

When I first saw their announcement about Sofy offering the “World’s First” AI-driven no-code mobile testing solution, my vendor-hype red flags went up. But on closer inspection, their product really does live within this unique intersection of buzzwords.

At its core, their Sofy Sense platform encompasses a connected lab network of real devices of different makes and versions that app dev teams can check out en masse for automated testing. A ChatGPT-based conversational interface lets testers write, execute, and report on test results starting from declarative prompts, API calls, or documentation.

Since the system can rattle off test code and use case iterations as compute workloads tied to hundreds of real devices in parallel, human testers can spend less time creating, managing and documenting tests, and more time comparing observed changes, flaws and response metrics the AI assistant prepares for them.

Of particular note, the ‘no-code’ part of the solution where the tester can jump in at any point of a recorded test, compare visual or metadata differences in screens or video, and write new assertion statements or branching logic with point-and-click buttons and dropdowns.
