Nyriad is a GPU storage specialist that offers a GPU accelerated storage system datacenter appliance called UltraIO that runs on commodity hardware.
They are now offering a data storage as a service (STaaS) version for customers looking for a simplified “pay as you go” managed solution.
UltraIO combines CPU and GPU based software to achieve storage and retrieval rates as high as 20 GB per second. Reads are processed via the CPU and writes via the GPU.
The system is designed for applications that need to ingest large amounts of block, file, and/or object storage. Key applications include media management and backup.
Their architecture uses erasure coding to achieve a high degree of reliability and reduce rebuild time.
The STaaS version simplifies configuration and management. Once customers choose a contract term, select a data services plan, and specify their reserve commitment, Nyriad and its partners handle the service implementation and support as a managed service.
