An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
Lunar.dev’s API gateway manages and governs calls to third-party APIs such as those exposed by business partners, SaaS applications, and gen AI LLMs.
While most API gateway products are designed for incoming (ingress) API traffic, Lunar.dev is designed for outgoing (egress) API traffic. The Consumption Gateway handles large volumes of traffic reliably for organizations that depend on external APIs for mission-critical applications.
The Gateway follows distributed computing middleware capabilities to ensure performance, scalability, and other quality of service (QoS) requirements for egress API traffic.
Customers set policies for external API consumption to control traffic, set quotas for SaaS APIs, and manage token rate limits for LLM APIs.
Lunar.dev includes a GUI dashboard that provides a consolidated view of all the external API traffic, displaying metrics for quality of service targets and showing adherence to API policies and quotas.
The gateway queues and throttles external API traffic, retries failed API calls, controls access to external APIs, collects observability and QoS metrics, and exports the HTTP archive (HAR) to record network traffic,
Customers install and manage the Gateway, which can be deployed on any cloud infrastructure. A managed service offering will be available in the near future.
