MediaViz AI: Meta-curation of the business image estate

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

MediaViz AI recognizes both subjective and objective properties of large image collections and streams, processing, tagging, and classifying them for API-based application workloads and exports.

If this also sounds like something a professional news, sports, or wedding photographer would use to speed up editorial review and select the ‘best’ photos from a huge reel, you are correct – they already offered a client-app and cloud-based sharing service for that.

What’s interesting for us is their new AI meta tagging and composable integration capabilities for business applications that depend on images. Now that smartphones and IoT cameras are ubiquitous, large image files can clog data and inference pipelines, unless the incoming unstructured assets are filtered and well-understood with semantic properties an AI workload can leverage.

The startup claims their AI-based cloud service can analyze and curate up to 60,000 images per hour, compressing the process for things like counting the number of people in a shot or renaming files, as well as making judgements on subjective metadata like mood, brand relevance and shot quality.
