HoundDog.ai: Sniffing out data privacy leaks from logs to AI prompts

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

HoundDog AIHoundDog.ai provides a continuous scanner that hunts for policy issues and sensitive data exposures within logs, LLM prompts, file packets, and machine-to-machine communications between in-house developed code and a myriad of third-party SaaS and GenAI tools and services.

There are dozens of code linting, SAST/DAST and CI/CD inspection tools on the market, many of which can scan logs, or provide feedback for vulnerable code and configurations within the developer’s IDE. Unfortunately these can miss the second-order violations of how private data (PII, PHI, tokens, cookies, etc.) can get handed down the chain and exposed when an API call to a CRM, or an AI prompt to a chatbot gets kicked off by the code.

HoundDog.ai uniquely recognizes possible secrets and tainted private data prior to delivery, and compares that to an allow list of third-party SDKs as well as the data processing policies for each tool or service in the delivery chain. It can be embedded as a local utility within the source control system or run at every code check-in point in the CI/CD pipeline.

Companies with multiple repos and dozens or hundreds of service connections can also reduce costs versus storing unfiltered or sampled data within pricey cloud data warehouses.
