YugabyteDB: Bringing AI vectors and data modernization to distributed SQL

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update from KubeCon NA 2025

Yugabyte logo Intellyx BCAs an original open-source innovator in the postgres-style distributed SQL space, YugabyteDB was at KubeCon presenting new capabilities for supporting AI builders and workloads with vector embeddings, and natural language interfaces for directly asking questions of a distributed data estate and tuning responses for performance.

Their free Voyager solution allows operators to query and automate the modernization and migration of multiple flavors of PostgreSQL, object stores like MySQL, Cassandra orbs, cloud data warehouses, and RDBMS like Oracle into a true multi-modal data architecture.

Further, their new Performance Advisor interface allows even non-engineers to ask data-observability-related questions, for instance to gauge the performance of certain human prompts and agentic API requests against the data estate.

“Here at Kubecon and at our day-one Distributed SQL Summit, I think we saw a lot more awareness around distributed systems, distributed transactions, and distributed databases. PostgreSQL was already becoming the most popular database among developers, and now we are seeing a lot more AI-driven conversations around vector embeddings with multi-cloud and intercloud support,” said Ajay Khanna, CMO, YugabyteDB.

Our last coverages of Yugabyte were at KubeCon NA 2024, and in 2020.
