Quarrio: Deterministic AI for fast comprehension, verifiable results

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Quarrio logo Intellyx BCThe market makers have been mistakenly led to believe that AI must be built upon massively scaled GPU infrastructure in huge data centers in order to handle billions of parameters and provide inferences that basically hallucinate – making probabilistic guesses about the next valid result.

Quarrio built a conversational AI system with semantic understanding of natural language inputs and self-improving ontologies to retrieve and process deterministic results from verifiable data sources. Their resource-frugal models can run on CPUs in local or cloud infrastructures for cost savings, and are especially suited to enterprise workflows that require high accuracy and quick response times.

Semantic understanding models are the key to reducing training time and building up an organizational ontology that understands the industry domain and business-specific context of each user request, translates human language into machine-level queries, and interrogates output in order to verify accuracy and further refine the relevancy of each decision point.

For instance, the word “default” means two very different things for a financial institution defaulting a loan, versus a high-tech manufacturer configuring default components for a supply chain. Also, in a mission-critical workflow where a query produces ambiguous results, this AI can try other paraphrases, ask for further clarification, or even say “I don’t know” – which is especially valuable when an inaccurate result would be unacceptable.

Hot take: When out-of-control AI energy consumption and token costs force businesses and governments to mandate sustainable AI approaches that respect data sovereignty, Lean AI approaches like Quarrio can answer that challenge with quick and accurate determinism.

Cool take: Deterministic AI is not going to do all of the kinds of speculative inference or actions GenAI LLMs or agents will do right now, by design, so it should be applied in use cases where factual results or AI and cloud resource constraints are key considerations.
