An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
The explosion of interest in generative AI opens up a whole new world of possibilities to misuse this nascent technology.
Governance is something that everyone dislikes but is nonetheless essential, especially for something everyone is so actively using, such as generative AI.
Many organizations don’t have the controls in place to effectively govern employee use. This is where RecordPoint’s new product, RexCommand, comes in.
RecordPoint provides a governance solution for unstructured data, in particular for directories of files and offline documents, including paper in boxes, and is now applying their expertise to a governance solution for generative AI.
It’s helpful to have a background in governance when turning your attention to a new technology area. And of course generative AI data is largely unstructured, as is the data RecordPoint currently governs.
RexCommand monitors generative AI prompts and responses for sensitive data, enforcing NIST and Australian government standards (RecordPoint is based in Australia).
RexCommand allows you to select and publish an AI governance policy (templates are available), load a control framework, require users to get approval to use an AI tool, and conform to published policy. RexCommand also provides an inventory of approved AI tools.
Administrators of RexCommand are typically an organization’s risk and compliance department, but because AI governance often crosses multiple departments, RexCommand can be configured for cross-departmental adminstration.
Employees using generative AI tools access RexCommand to view the list of approved AI tools, and examine risk assessments and governance policies they must adhere to, including any regulations and standards that may apply. RexCommand is a good fit for highly regulated industries that need to ensure such compliance.
RexCommand tracks employee training activities relative to the governance regulations and standards, and identifies and helps resolve AI related incidents.
A “freemium” version is available for those who want to try it out.
