Percona: Managing open hybrid data platforms

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update from KubeCon 2025

The very idea of putting databases in Kubernetes was considered absurd a few years ago. After all, who would host important data within ephemeral instances? Now, it’s becoming par for the course, thanks in large part to open source database innovation.

Percona meets customers where they are, supporting the delivery of a managed services data estate including validated distributions of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Valkey and others with security tooling and cost optimization extensions built in.

Customers of the firm appreciate the lack of vendor lock-in, plus their expertise in migrating from traditional RDBMS systems to more cloud-native-style distributed SQL databases and data lakes, with transparent data encryption (or TDE) for data encryption at rest, especially important for regulated industries with critical compliance and privacy requirements such as PCI/DSS.

We last covered Percona at KubeCon NA in 2024, and in 2022
