HYPR provides a combined identity verification, passwordless authentication, and risk management platform designed to ease employee onboarding and compliance audits, while minimizing insider threats and credential exposures.
Starting from day one of a new employee onboarding when laptops, smartphones, and credentials are issued, their system immediately closes off primary authorization exposure routes, then continuously scans for suspicious requests and internal employee behaviors. A complete enterprise-wide view of all identity requests and activities demonstrates organizational gaps in resistance to threat vectors such as phishing, social engineering, impersonation and device takeover.
For machine-level identities such as local AI agents that may be authorized to act on behalf of a user, the platform can “micromanage” the agent – starting by closing off API connectivity to the agent’s creator and enacting a human supervisor approval for a limited-scope work permit process, for instance, allowing an agent to draft an email, but not send it.
Companies can bring their own preferred identity providers and security platforms and use HYPR as an identity telemetry, alerting and auditing resource.
Intellyx Hot Take: We appreciated how this vendor takes authentication all the way down to specific moments in the identity lifecycle to include potential credential threats at account recovery time, and behaviors like remote worker impersonation, where an employee will basically “farm out” their identity to a cheaper contractor that may actually be a state actor from North Korea. This is actually happening quite a lot these days, and audits have turned them up!
Intellyx Cold Take: Since our last coverage of HYPR in 2019, the identity attack surface has increased 1000-fold, thanks to readily available bots and AI-based exploits that may look uncannily human. Their initial uses of passwordless credentials and multi-factor authentication including biometrics checks have become par for the course, but their involvement in FIDO alliance standards cooperation with other leading identity and security providers provides hope that the software industry as a whole can keep pace with the rate of change.
