In a recent article in Forbes, enterprise writer Jason Bloomberg interviewed the DevOps visionary Gene Kim. I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with these two individuals and it was fascinating to read about Kim’s contributions to the world of DevOps.
Gene Kim took his first step into the world of high-tech in 1987 at the age of 16. His entry into a school science fair – pertaining to cyclic redundancy checks, of course – earned him a recruitment call to work at Prisma Supercomputers. Less than a year later he proved his worth when tackling the infamous Morris Worm for the company.
Kim, always one to want to learn and know more, later moved on to Purdue University where he worked and studied under Professor Gene Spafford. In 1992 Kim released Tripwire with Spafford. Tripwire is a utility that detects unauthorized changes to software. It quickly became very popular among Unix users.
