An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
It’s no secret that the greatest security vulnerability for enterprise organizations is the user who will click on anything. Bad actors have figured out that it is often easier to trick users into voluntarily giving them access to their systems through a phish or social engineering attack than it is to execute a direct assault.
That means that in the cybersecurity wars, the browser is the first line of defense. But for most organizations, it’s a battle they are losing as securing the browser from easily-duped users is proving difficult to sustain.
Authentic8’s new virtual browser, called Silo, aims to solve this problem. Silo creates a one-time virtual browser within a secure sandbox environment each time a user requires a browser for any purpose. The browser runs in the cloud and only sends encrypted pixels to the client while receiving x/y coordinate interactions for hyperlink and copy/paste support.
The result is an arms-length interaction between the browser and the user’s compute resources, essentially eliminating the risk of a phish or ransomware attack that seeks to take over local control of a user’s device. It is an interesting approach that also offers protection against credential theft, the ability to provide geo-spoofing and per-client encryption key control ensuring that browsing records are secure.
