I had a really interesting conversation with Jason Bloomberg a few weeks ago on the impact that machine learning will have on customer data quality (Jason’s write up on the briefing is here – in 
an Intellyx Brain Candy briefing. We began talking about the sheer scale of the problem. In this New Era of Customer 360, the challenge is that data exists in many repositories and much of it is unstructured. Even if you could extract context from those sources, traditional deterministic and probabilistic matching engines would generate far too many suspect records. No organization has enough data stewards to ever resolve them all. I spoke with an organization who has billions of source records and potential could have 50-75 million suspect records – more than 100 lifetimes of work for any data steward team that I have ever known.
