An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
Imagine you’re in charge of a factory complex with thousands of IoT devices, ranging from assembly line robots to security cameras to vehicle sensors. Each type of device communicates through its own gateway, meaning you may have hundreds of different gateways scattered throughout your complex, from simple tablet-sized gateways to gateways running on rack-mountable servers.
Managing all of these gateways – let alone the devices they connect to – can be a daunting challenge, and only gets worse as you scale up your IoT deployment.
Zededa solves these problems by introducing a virtualization layer that abstracts a wide variety of different gateway types, including older devices like SCADA controllers. As a result, Zededa presents a unified open API and controller software that provides a single dashboard for managing all the devices.
In addition, Zededa has open sourced Project EVE, the core virtualization platform, thus fostering an ecosystem of players who can build value-added products and services on top of the platform.
