Distilled Identity: AI-Driven Biometrics that Leverages ‘Social Physics’

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Distilled Identity is among a handful of vendors that are reinventing how biometrics can disrupt password-based authentication.

The company can provide continuous authentication of a user based on various behaviors, including how they move their device and their location.

Distilled Identity’s most important differentiator is ‘Social Physics,’ a new computational social science from two of its founders, who are professors at MIT. Social Physics goes beyond traditional AI-based biometric inferencing to provide greater context into the identity of a person as well as what behaviors they are likely to exhibit in the future.

This technology is especially useful in situations where traditional forms of identity confirmation fall short, for example, offering credit to unbanked people with no credit history, or sufficiently identifying refugees in order to provide them services, even though they may have no identification papers.
