Scaled Agile: The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Crosses the Chasm

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

We last spoke with Scaled Agile in September 2014, so it was high time for an update.

The news: the company’s popular Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a few versions along since 2014, and reasonably mature. The company reports that 70% of the Fortune 100 use SAFe in one way or another – although for many of these large enterprises, the use is at the departmental level.

Nevertheless, the number of organizations that are past the early adopter phase and bringing SAFe to more than scattered departments is also growing, a sign that the framework has ‘crossed the chasm’ as the early majority of organizations are now adopting it.

Scaled Agile has also been busy rolling out a variety of new courses on SAFe for a variety of roles and for government organizations.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the SAFe story today is how some Scaled Agile customers are looking for ways to bring SAFe to their organizations beyond the application development teams – not only across IT, but also to business functions as well.

After all, the benefits of applying the core principles of Agile extend well beyond software development.
