An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
What if every piece of information, printed on every piece of paper your organization has ever generated was suddenly hot — that is, readily available and used as frequently as it would create value? How could that data transform your business? That is the question that new technology from Ripcord is begging organizations to ask.
Of course, we’ve been talking about digitizing everything and going paperless for decades. The reality, as anyone who has ever scanned a piece of paper knows, however, is not quite as simple. The process of dealing with physical paper, with its abundance of staples, paperclips, and mismatched sizes, has stymied efforts to eliminate paper for even the most earnest and progressive executives. The issue has become more urgent of late, however, as organizations look to technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Digital Process Automation (DPA), and related business process automation solutions, only to find that the digitizing of physical paper is one of the most significant roadblocks to realizing the promised efficiency and optimization gains.
This gap is what Ripcord has stepped into, utilizing its combination of proprietary and purpose-built paper-scanning robots (which it calls Workcells) and intelligent enterprise content management software (which it calls Canopy) to help organizations “centralize all of your physical and digital records inside a single platform.” Developed over three years, the company’s robots are now capable of scanning up to one billion pages per year. As the company sees it, however, the robots are just the means to a bigger end. The company has also built its end-to-end content management software from the ground up, including OCR, search capabilities, and advanced machine learning technology, with the intent of helping organizations reshape content into transformative, structured data that can power all-new business models and unlock trapped revenue hiding within it.
