Tencent: Massive Conglomerate Facilitating US-Chinese Business with OpenStack Clouds

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Tencent is a massive Chinese conglomerate with interests in gaming, social media, Internet services, entertainment, and various technologies. Why, then, was it exhibiting at the modest Open Infrastructure Summit in Denver last week?

The answer: to promote its TStack Cloud Solution, an OpenStack private cloud service and dedicated platform for both government and enterprise users.

Its primary audience: Chinese companies who wish to do business in the US and Canada, as well as North American companies who wish to do business in China. It even has several data centers in North America to complement its large Asian presence.

Given the size of the markets in these respective geographies, Tencent has been able to build out massive OpenStack deployments within its TStack offering.
