iGrafx: Process Intelligence to Enable Business Transformation

I remember sitting in an iGrafx class almost twenty years ago learning how to use the process modeling and simulation components of their platform. Those were the days when optimization — of business and IT — was still the center of the universe. And iGrafx was one of the undeniable leaders when it came to helping organizations get their arms around their complex business processes. Today, of course, optimization (and things like compliance and risk mitigation) remain essential, but they have now become table stakes. What drives priorities and initiatives today is the transformation of business and operating models as organizations seek to create differentiating customer experiences and compete in the digital era. When we sat down with iGrafx this week, therefore, I was curious to see how the company had evolved to remain relevant in this new era.

According to the company, the need for its comprehensive process discovery, capture, and management platform is even more essential in the era of digital transformation. While the company continues to support use cases around risk management, governance and compliance, and standardization and efficiency management, it is seeing increased use of its platform to help organizations in areas such as customer experience, robotic process automation (RPA), and data-driven decision-making initiatives.

The company holds itself out as the backbone of the numerous centers of excellence (CoEs) that an organization may operate. That makes sense as these CoEs require process intelligence to work effectively. Still, that view may sell short the real value of the platform. As organizations seek to transform entire business and operating models, they require a way to connect their strategic goals to both their current operating state, as well as their intended transformational initiatives. It is this transparency and clarity that enables organizational leaders to understand the full ramifications of the decisions they are making at both a strategic and tactical level — and precisely what iGrafx delivers when used in this fashion. Additionally, the company has partnered with or created interfaces to a large number of tools that help organizations capture information and automate processes, enabling it to act as the glue that creates multi-partner, best-of-breed solutions that enterprises can use as a transformational engine.
