An Intellyx BrainCandy Brief
Convert everything to smart devices, collect massive amounts of data, and use it to infuse intelligence into your organization. Sounds simple, right? But this simple-sounding proposition is difficult to realize — especially in industrial settings that must cope with often decades-old equipment, the barriers between IT and operational technology (OT), and with far-flung remote assets. The promise of industrial IoT (IIOT) is great, but realizing it has been anything but a sure bet.
Crosser set out to close this gap. The company’s solution creates an abstraction layer that allows IIOT devices to collect data, perform edge analytics, and then deliver data to a variety of on-prem and cloud locations in a centrally managed and orchestrated manner. The solution consists of its Crosser Cloud which provides the orchestration and management layer, and the Crosser Node which handles data collection, data handling and analytics, and then delivers the resulting data streams to any number of data connection targets.
Beyond just providing a simplified and centralized management and orchestration mechanism, however, the solution also enables industrial organizations to transform, filter, aggregate, and enrich the data, and then apply machine learning models or perform analytics processing — all at the edge. Moreover, the orchestration engine enables organizations to execute complex workflows, to split data streams, and feed them into different systems for different purposes.
