An Intellyx BrainCandy Brief
According to Happeo, there are three types of communication that organizations and their employees need to function properly: rapid, dynamic, and static. Rapid communications are things like texts or instant messages. Dynamic messages are more like posts on Facebook — fluid and interactive with a more “sticky” and collaborative nature. Static communications, as their name implies, do not change much, but are often still critical information that organizations must share broadly — think company news, announcements, and procedural guidelines.
The company believes that while many organizations have a handle on rapid communications, there is a disjointedness in how they manage their dynamic and static communications. This gap is why the company created its platform: to bring dynamic and static communications together into an integrated environment. Deeply integrated with the Google G Suite, the company uses a Channel metaphor to organize communication between and amongst an organization’s employees based on functional alignment, project participation, and other natural groupings. Unlike intranets of the past, this channel-based approach enables them to build a bottom-up adoption that results in high daily usage rates.
The platform’s deep Google integration, when combined with this channel orientation, enables it to vastly simplify rights provisioning of documents stored with Google. For instance, a file posted in a Channel is automatically accessible to anyone in that Channel (unless the author overrides it). Further, anyone who is added to a channel automatically gets access, and anyone who leaves a channel is automatically de-provisioned. It’s an interesting approach that dramatically simplifies a challenge that stymies many intra-organization communication efforts.
