Krista offers a business process automation service that is both authored and consumed by non-developers in a no-code, ‘no-app’ way, through a conversational dialogue between people and systems.
With a stated ambition to “Stop making people understand tech, make tech understand people,” you might try to categorize the startup’s offering as another low-code app builder, but it doesn’t generate apps with user interfaces. Or call it another RPA tool, with bots ingesting content and executing work across multiple screens and systems, but there are no bots or screen-scraping-scripting involved.
Krista does resemble other digital process automation solutions in that it communicates with a number of systems, SaaS portals, deployment tools and APIs that a given process author has access to, applying templates and some machine learning to understand a particular industry’s jargon or end user’s needs. The two-way conversations, feedback and control options are presented on an as-requested basis within a messaging stream.
With millions of profligate apps in app stores, thousands of apps within each enterprise, and hundreds of apps on every consumer’s smartphone — 75% or more of which are only used once and never opened again — maybe this approach will reduce the ever-increasing learning curve they describe as “software frustritis” that plagues businesses and individuals.
