An Intellyx Brain Candy Update
Kemp is continuing its evolution from a stalwart load balancing and firewall vendor to an ‘Always-On Application Experience’ solution provider managing traffic at scale across hybrid IT environments. Now they’ve added a new network wrinkle to their capabilities with the acquisition of Czech-based Flowmon.
Flowmon adds an NDR (network detection and response) layer that observes packet flow over modern distributed networks, providing diagnostics and anomaly detection for predicting problems such as capacity bottlenecks, latency and DDoS cyberattacks.
“If our load balancer is the traffic cop, then Flowmon is the traffic camera,” said Ray Downes, CEO of Kemp.
This advanced network detection capability informs Kemp’s ADC fabric of both software-defined and hardware load balancers as it directs traffic atop a common cloud-aware control and visibility plane, giving application delivery and NetSecOps teams a better view of the current health of applications running on the network as well as emergent future risks.
