Robocorp offers a hybrid cloud PaaS for managing the design, sharing and execution of RPA assets built using the open source Python-based Robot Framework.
Unlike other low-code/no-code task and test automation tools that seek to recycle the on-screen actions of citizen developers (or end users) at the application UI level as RPA agents, Robocorp keeps Python developers at the center of its ecosystem, instead supporting an environment for sharing libraries and integration extensions, and orchestrating the execution of recurrent tasks and longer-running processes at low incremental costs.
As the RPA space sits on the verge of mainstream adoption, field reports suggest that many UI-based bots become brittle when confronted by variability in real-world application environments, and require lots of hidden custom coding and adaptation effort behind the scenes to maintain utility.
By peeling off proprietary automation layers, reasonably skilled developers within the line of business can declare processes as code, and leverage extension libraries to instrument UI, machine-to-machine and data interactions with a greater degree of resiliency.
With per-developer and per-bot license costs removed by the open source model, developers keep the IP of their bots, and they can either choose to roll their own execution, or pay-as-they-go for incremental automation assistant support and cloud execution infrastructure from Robocorp.
