Mendix: All-in-One No-Code/Low-Code/Pro-Code Platform

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

We last covered Mendix in August 2018 when it announced that Siemens had acquired the company.

Today, Mendix remains a largely independent organization, although Siemens is predictably one of its largest customers.

Mendix was early to the low-code market with its declarative, model-driven approach that works well in the cloud. Over the years it replatformed to a Cloud Foundry foundation, positioning it as a modern, cloud-native application platform.

Where Mendix differentiates itself, however, is its support for no-code, low-code, and pro-code.

The Mendix Studio is its no-code offering, suitable for citizen developers – business users with no more technical expertise than a power Excel user might have.

The Mendix Studio Pro centers on low-code for more technical ‘business engineers’ as well as professional developers who may occasionally find reasons to hand-code within the low-code environment (hence ‘pro-code’).

Mendix is equally adept at back-end as well as front-end application creation, and fully supports mobile app development needs, including offline (airplane mode) support.

Mendix also offers AI-driven next-best-action workflow capabilities, and the company is expanding into the burgeoning process automation world as well.
