Auristor: Cloud-Ready Distributed File System with Global Namespace

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Auristor makes any combination of cloud or on-premises storage into a single file system.

Auristor expands upon the vision of the Andrew File System (AFS), which has provided mission critical distributed file system capabilities for decades. Auristor provides a straightforward upgrade path for the open source OpenAFS customers to Auristor.

With Auristor, customers can securely connect hybrid IT data and applications within a single global namespace.

Auristor is platform independent with zero-configuration support for all popular client operating systems.

This configuration-based approach to a distributed file system offers maximal access control, where any user can create groups and assign data access privileges without violating relevant data policies.

Such cross-platform control of both files and users enables Auristor customers to replace their VPNs. Optional fine-grained policy management gives broad, policy-specific controls to customers who are particularly security sensitive, including government agencies.
