An Intellyx Brain Candy Update
Since we last spoke with Plutora, they have gone through a bit of a metamorphosis. Long a leader in the value stream management (VSM) sector, the company has seen its customers shift from using its platform as a mostly stand-alone workflow tool to using it as a connector in which much of the product interactions were occurring via its APIs. It realized that what its customers needed most was the data and insights they could derive by bringing all elements of the software delivery pipeline into a single place.
This realization was the driver behind the recent launch of its new data- and insight-driven platform. Essentially becoming a big data platform for software delivery data, the platform ingests data from the myriad tools that support the modern software delivery lifecycle. It uses this data to deliver a set of standardized and customizable value stream flow metrics. These metrics enable the various process constituencies to answer critical questions surrounding productivity, speed and outcomes, and outputs and process quality. The ability to see these software delivery metrics in one place across the entire software portfolio also provides valuable visibility into things like work distribution.
The new platform, however, goes beyond just providing metrics. It now also provides much deeper integration to planning tools, collecting and integrating much more planning data. This extension allows its customers to normalize planning data and link it to delivery outcomes across all pipelines. Moreover, it provides a simple way for both delivery teams and management to visualize and manage software delivery in the context of strategic objectives.
