An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
While the high-tech space is known for its “hot topic du jour,” some have more staying power than others. And those that do tend to be the ones that are more than just hype and actually matter. An example is the hot topic of the governance and oversight of artificial intelligence (AI). One of the rare topics that resonates far outside of the tech industry itself, how to manage, regulate, and govern AI as it begins to impact nearly every facet of life is something that politicians, business leaders, and the folks at the corner coffee shop alike are all discussing. And with good reason: while there’s plenty of concern to go around regarding the ethical use of AI, answers have been in short supply.
Just out of stealth, Credo AI has given itself the ambitious goal of helping enterprises address these AI governance challenges at scale — and to create a new tech category in the process. The company’s platform provides enterprises with a set of tools and automations that it claims will help them “create AI with the highest ethical standards and deliver responsible AI at scale.” Its platform effectively combines a governance workflow engine to capture and report on policies, controls, and artifacts, with direct integrations to infrastructure components, data management, and MLOps (machine learning) tools to enable the integration of the platform directly into the application development (CI/CD) pipeline.
The company readily acknowledges that much of the AI governance challenge comes down to trust, and that technology is only part of the solution. It believes that the ultimate path to trustworthy AI governance at scale requires a mix of data, people, process, and regulation. To that end, the platform leans heavily on reporting and transparency. Moreover, the company is partnering with regulatory bodies, non-profits, and others interested in addressing this problem to ensure that it helps organizations address the challenges in their entirety. It’s an ambitious effort, to be sure, but also a worthy and much-needed one.
