Jellyfish: Extending engineering management with business context

We already have robust and well-adopted platforms for managing and measuring the work of large sales, customer service and human resources organizations. So why is the critical and costly work of engineering teams treated as a special discipline that is notoriously hard to manage for predictable results?

Jellyfish is a fast-growing startup seeking to align the work of engineering organizations and business leaders around common goals without quashing the creativity and collaborative aspects that make these individuals and teams special.

Fed by observability and data collection tentacles into many of the systems of record and collaboration that make up the developer’s daily life, Jellyfish’s engineering management platform gathers work signals from change events in Github pull requests, incident tickets, CI/CD deploys, email and Slack messages.

A specialized AI then interprets all of this information into reviewable dashboards and recommendations for aligning engineering epics and feature work with deliverables and results valued by the business.

The secret sauce here is in helping executives learn to drive continuous improvement working alongside engineering leaders and distinctly skilled and geographically distributed individuals without the ‘big brother’ effect typically associated with performance-driven management tools, which would hamper developer experience.
