Datadobi made its name offering data migration and protection for network-attached storage (NAS).
Datadobi’s newest product is StorageMAP, which helps companies discover, organize, and act upon their unstructured data across the enterprise, both on-premises and in the cloud.
Discovery focuses on uncovering surprises among the data, for example, data owners who have left the company or backup files that are out of date. It can also determine whether data should remain on-premises or move to the cloud.
At that point, StorageMAP organizes data into groups that data users have defined previously. For example, the tool can sort data by department, project, or job and then tag them with metadata extensions to maintain the group associations.
Datadobi can help with data tiering, sorting them into hot, warm, cool, and cold categories for more efficient cloud storage.
StorageMAP also offers sophisticated analytics and reporting capabilities that help organizations manage their unstructured data on an ongoing basis.
