Nobl9: Infusing SLOs with business context

Nobl9An Intellyx BrainCandy Brief

The last time we covered Nobl9 in 2020, they were just getting started on their mission of promoting positive, improvement-oriented SLOs (service level objectives) to replace the negative incentives and penalties of SLAs (service level agreements) for motivating enterprise teams to cooperate on delivering more reliable and resilient software.

The widespread adoption of DevOps, shift-right observability and SRE practices has only exacerbated the need for a better way to manage for resiliency without breaking the bank. A responsible error budget takes into account the reality that while no team will ever deliver a 100% issue-free application at scale, continuously improving performance toward business objectives is an entirely achievable goal.

Whether application teams receive the SLO heads-up through an observability dashboard, a Slack message or a direct incident notification, Nobl9 brings all stakeholders a shared context for each target, so investments in features, improvements and fixes can be addressed in an order which creates the most value for the organization and its customers.
