Materialize: Persistent data flow for real-time applications

Materialize gives development teams and data scientists a just-in-time Postgres-style distributed database that speeds and normalizes the flow of data streams from highly variable sources for use in real-time applications such as analytics and customer personalization.

The firm just announced the release of its next generation cloud native distributed architecture, which separates compute from storage and provides a data persistence layer for real-time apps with multi-cluster scalability.

Responding to queries in a timely manner is just the table stakes for entering the real-time data game. DataOps teams must inevitably make tradeoffs between speed, consistency and cost when navigating the journey of data from say, Kafka and third-party streaming services, to the data warehouse where longer batch processes are run and storage costs are incurred.

Looking through a control plane that allows joins and updates to just the data actively used for real-time workloads allows dev teams to maintain query performance and consistency, while reducing excess cloud compute and storage costs.
