An Intellyx BrainCandy Update
If there were a product category for mind-blowing technology, Umajin would easily be a leader in it. The company’s platform combines a new kind of 3D computer vision and visual effects rendering with augmented reality that represents the real-world properties of matter and space.
In our previous briefings with them in 2020 and 2018, the firm was positioning itself as a sort of gamified reality engine combined with deeply immersive interaction that seemed like a shoe-in for delivering on the promise of metaverse-style experiences.
Refreshingly, this technology seems to have found multiple alternative routes to market, whether or not the Meta platform is ultimately adopted. Some large organizations are productively applying it for things like VR-based hands-on team repair training, or camera recognition of concealed objects and behavioral anomalies within a crowd.
The coolest part this time around? Their demonstrated ability to use the CPU/GPU processing and sensory power of your modern smartphone as a Star Trek-style tricorder that runs AI recognition for metadata and model representation of anything from the dimensions of a dark room illuminated in 3D by radio frequencies, to identifying microorganisms in motion and the engineering characteristics of surfaces and materials.
