Keysight: Testing the edges of distributed human-computer applications

Keysight Intellyx BC logoAn Intellyx BrainCandy Brief

I met up with Keysight at the recent KubeCon NA 2022 in Detroit, and their major sponsorship presence there was a mystery to me until I realized they had acquired the rather ubiquitous open source front end testing capabilities of Eggplant Software, which has been widely used by millions of testers to read and replay on-screen experiences.

The eternal conundrum of software QA is whether or not the sophistication of the testing method is equal to the variability of the user scenarios and deployment environments.

In that light, Eggplant is a natural extension for Keysight’s very broad existing stack of embedded device test harnesses and multimodal endpoint testing and measurement tools, which together provide windows into the edges of complex multimodal applications.

Futuristic remote applications such as autonomous car image recognition, factory floor IIoT or semi-airgapped retail point of sale system networks will likely lean on cloud native underpinnings, but the need to model, simulate and test digital twins from a human or computer interface perspective will only continue to grow.
