An Intellyx BrainCandy Brief
Some say time keeps flowing like a river, others, that time keeps on slipping into the future. One thing about time is certain: as collective members of a highly distributed, digital workforce, each of us has a different perception of the value of time.
Produce8 is wagering on creating more value from less employee time with its digital productivity platform. By looking at a knowledge worker’s digital distractions, application usage patterns, and task interruptions, they claim they save an employee an hour or more of unproductive time a day.
One important distinction here: it’s not at all like Big Brother employee monitoring. Management can see and understand high level productivity trends to make administrative adjustments such as reducing the number of meetings, but they don’t get to track or dictate any employee’s private communications, personal condition or location, or time-on-task, which makes it GDPR-compliant in the EU, and morale-friendly here in the States.
Employees, in turn, can better manage their own ideal work plans, so they can achieve a ‘state of flow’ more regularly and deliver better outcomes for the business, without suffering burnout. Time recovered doesn’t have to be reassigned to some other task either, because it is often during the schedule whitespace of a coffee break or a walk that the best thinking and problem-solving happens.
