VRdirect: Industrialized no-code VR authoring platform

We’ve all seen the peak of unbridled expectations for VR ubiquity over the last two years, following Facebook’s $100B plunge into developing a metaverse that is disappointingly fizzling right now.

VRdirect has already moved on from the hype with a compelling no-code way to develop business-oriented headset-based content experiences that can double as interactive desktop or mobile-viewable applications.

Some large enterprises and entities are already using this system to generate the practical use cases we expected of VR, from facility walkthroughs and site reviews, to computer-based safety training and employee orientation. Authors can draw scenario and interaction templates such as quiz forms and puzzles from a library of components, using panoramic photos, video scenes, object pictures, and interaction commands.

The resulting pre-rendered spaces are not a 3D-rendered-in-realtime environment – and that’s fine. Given the processing burdens and device incompatibilities of currently available hardware, and the disorienting and distracting user experience a fully immersive world creates for many learning and customer service scenarios, maybe this builder is just the ticket for more widespread adoption of VR applications for real-world business purposes.
