Zoho: Baking AI and privacy into the enterprise cloud operating platform

During their Zoholics 2023 customer and partner event, Zoho quietly presented a new brand and customer experience focus, while publicly highlighting several new AI, privacy, and inter-application capabilities that strengthened its position as an enterprise productivity and low-code application player.

The firm announced ChatGPT integration to 14 of its core applications – but it’s far from an “AI washing” as the commonly touted LLM is only trained to provide an additional conversational interface to leverage its own Zia intelligent assistant, which can securely grab and correlate answers and analytics from customer data across apps for sales, service, accounting and billing, for instance.

Continuing the security and privacy thread, Zoho also announced general download availability of its new Ulaa web browser which compellingly offers no support for advertising or marketing trackers, hinting at further privacy and DNS improvements happening within their network backplane.

The company also announced more than 65% year-over-year growth in large enterprise customers, and while this growth figure includes some of the largest banks and companies in Asia and Latin America, they are just starting to see traction with bigger companies in the US and Europe, which has a much broader user base of startups and mid-size companies.

Small businesses weren’t left out of the release train either, as their new Zoho Start service can now automate all the needed steps a solo-preneur has to complete in order to set up a viable business entity and web domain, with business books and telephony services already configured for the local tax jurisdiction.
