Firefly ingests cloud config to improve IaC asset management

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Firefly helps control and manage an organization’s cloud assets, across AWS, Azure and GCP.

Firefly inspects an organization’s IaC config files and providing a dashboard to update, fix, and maintain the files, with change control.

They say this is especially helpful for cloud ops, SRE, and DevOps teams who are responsible for managing and controlling cloud assets.

A detailed report of the IaC resources helps ensure the right policies are set for resources such as S3 buckets.

Firefly checks  for unmanaged resources, drift from config files, ghost resources, and codified resources and displays the results on a dashboard.

The dashboard displays an inventory of assets and details along with the opportunity to take corrective action on the resources in the inventory that may not be managed or not managed correctly.

Firefly can be used as a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for cloud assets, ensuring there’s always a single source of truth for IaC cloud configurations, and provides a way to manage the assets centrally under version control.
