Sentry Enterprises: Secure card-sized bio-identity edge computing

Sentry EnterprisesAn Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Sentry Enterprises designs and manufactures rugged credit-card-sized edge computing devices and a platform for integrating biometric and electronic proofs for passwordless identity authentication.

Governments, major technology vendors, and the open source self-sovereign identity community are all trying to sort out common standards for proving human identity. In the meantime, having a secure ID device that only shares the least possible personal credentials of whatever identity regime with point-of-sale devices, physical security checkpoints, and bouncers seems like a useful evolution of the old employee or student badge.

Since there’s almost no way to unstick the tight integrated circuitry, you could also use the card as a crypto wallet, where your ‘proof of life’ is the private key to a cryptographically sealed distributed ledger. While Web3 stuff is not of particular interest to us, the practical use of this technology is one signpost on the way to a future where we may finally be able to control our own identity information.
