AppMap is a developer tool that generates sequence diagrams and analyzes code to help prevent design issues that can impact production, such as performance, security, and stability issues.
AppMap integrates with popular IDEs and frameworks and collects data from runtime code. It manages and analyzes the data entirely within the development environment.
As the code changes, AppMap generates diffs for the sequence diagrams and identifies significant changes.
AppMap also includes an AI chat capability (with optional voice) to help navigate and fix issues related to best practices, patterns, and designs.
In other words, the focus of the AppMap tool is to identify design and best practices related issues rather than simply scanning code for issues related to syntax and semantic mistakes or vulnerabilities in open source libraries.
AppMap currently analyzes and maps server side code. Front end code analysis is in the works. AppMap also supports GitHub actions and CI commands.
The product set also includes an open source API documentation generation tool.
AppMap is an open source product with pricing for optional enterprise extensions and support.
