Equinix Fabric Cloud Router: Abstracted Control Plane for Hybrid Multi-Cloud Applications

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

We last covered Equinix in April 2021 when the company discussed its Equinix Metal bare metal-as-a-service offering.

The colocation and interconnection leader is now rolling out the Equinix Fabric Cloud Router, a control plane platform that abstracts cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-datacenter networking. It also provides configurable redundancy and high availability for Equinix’s Cloud Fabric virtual interconnection service.

Network and other ops personnel can use the Fabric Cloud Router to create and configure redundant connections and migrate and deploy managed network services.

In addition to configuring the Cloud Fabric for hybrid multi-cloud use cases, operators can also use the Fabric Cloud Router for cloud migration and data transfer scenarios.

The Fabric Cloud Router represents a shift in focus for Equinix from its traditional data center, colocation, and interconnection offerings aimed at network professionals.

The Fabric Cloud Router provides a cloud native infrastructure context more aligned to the needs of software infrastructure professionals.
