Sentra: Assessing and Monitoring Data Security, Including AI

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Sentra’s data security platform analyzes data stores for potential issues, classifies the data in them, and recommends how to secure and control the data.

Sentra recently added a gen AI assistant called “Jagger” to help users maximize the benefit from the platform. They are also adding guardrails for gen AI RAGs and supporting vector DBs for AI specific workflows.

The platform continuously scans cloud based data stores and identifies any sensitive or risky data (such as PII or database secrets). Sentra also supports several SQL-based and NTFS data sources running in the data center.

The dashboard summarizes the results of the scan and updates continuously once set in place. Customers can overlook their data landscape and look for sensitive data types and classes.

The continuous monitoring alerts customers to potential breaches and data related incidents, including over privileged or unauthorized access, inactive IDs and keys, privacy violations, and “shadow” or abandoned data.

The platform accesses data using database APIs with read only permission. Data is not copied or extracted but is tracked when moved from one data store to another.
