StarTree offers a DBaaS cloud platform that feeds industrial-sized real-time data to analytics and observability platforms through the Apache Pinot open source datastore project, with an eye toward balancing speed and end-user visibility with efficiencies of cost and scale.
The most appropriate use cases for this technology are the world’s busiest data-driven websites—from industries such as retail, financial, social media–-where end customers are concurrently requesting high volumes of updates and conducting complex analysis work such as logistics or planning.
While skilled teams could technically build their own fast data stores with the open source, StarTree offers a self-service platform with integrations to ingest data from other cloud data warehouses, observability tools and Kafka streams, providing a fast query and data store layer for serving analytics workloads optimized for cost-to-performance ratios.
Companies can use their SaaS for a managed Pinot cluster, or ‘bring their own cloud’ to meet privacy and compliance concerns. StarTree also offers developers a “free forever” size-limited workspace for experimentation and sharing.
