Comcast DataBee: Unified Data Set for Security and Compliance

Comcast’s DataBee ingests security and logging data into cloud native data lakes such as Snowflake and Databricks to provide security and compliance insights for an organization.

DataBee automatically parses the data, and analyzes, normalizes, and enriches the data with business context, and then stores it in the organization’s data lake of choice.

DataBee maps the data to an extended version of the Open Cybersecurity Schema Framework (OCSF) and displays data feed health in its dashboard, producing a unified time series data set as input to an organization’s business intelligence tools.

In addition to creating the data set, the DataBee Hive part of the product provides data mapping, continuous data quality checks and validation, catalogs the data, traces data lineage, and tracks consumption and cost.

DataBee uses proprietary content to check for security compliance and threats, and maintain security hygiene.

Organizations use DataBee to search for security threats and identify network attacks. They also use DataBee to validate security policies, privacy policies, and adherence to compliance controls.

On the roadmap are enhancements for vulnerability remediation, privacy compliance, and AI risk mediation.

Comcast’s Technology Solutions division sells and supports DataBee, which was originally developed as an internal solution.
